I've driven out to about the 9 mile or so on course #1. That's where the dragging ends, and the salt is pretty danged good. The first sizeable blemish is at the 6 1/2 and there are only a few funky spots. I'd say the salt on course one - a combo course, by the way -- is as good as we've seen in a few years. No dragging necessary in the pits, which are dry. And no dragging for turnouts until past the 5 on course one.
One of the workers asked me about the course in this way: "Would you race on it?" My response -- I'd let Nancy ride 200 on a bike on it - that's how good it looks now.
Course 2 isn't quite so good but close, for sure. And the good salt peters out by the 3 1/2 and becomes "okay" salt. The return road from the far end of course 2 is naturally limited to 45mph today and'll probably get worse. But 45 is way better than creeping along and breaking spring shackles anyway, like last year or two.
100 front-row pits have been marked, and with 3 same-size rows behind that means there's room for 400 pits. About 240 or so are pre-registered, I hear.
Honey Buckets has delivered the first toilets with the rest coming here later. Each porta-potty has a hand sanitizer dispenser in it. There are a few sanitizer stands around registration and inspection, but provide your own if you want one close to hand (so to speak). I believe we'll be putting some 6' markings around the toilets, too.
JoAnn just called to say lunch is being served in 15 minutes at the White Goose Bar. Later --
