Update in case youse guys are wondering:
I sweet-talked the doc into letting me arrive Saturday morning - in other words, it's about 5AM and I'm gonna hit the road in a little while. I suspect this is the outlook: I'll have surgery today and that'll include some serious roto-rooter work cleaning out the nasty cooties living in and around my wrist. Surgery is not gonna be a major deal, but since it's my right hand it'll play merry hell with my typing. I'll try to stay in touch.
This MRSA has been lurking for about 5 years (since I had surgery for arthritis in my right wrist) and has had 5 or 6 "outbreaks", so this time the doc says he'll have me on IV antibiotics for a while. I guess that'll have me tied to the hospital bed for a few days, and by Tuesday or Wednesday I'll head home.
I remember hearing that something like 80% of the medical costs a person incurs during his life -- happen in the last 20% of life. Geez, let's see -- open heart surgery in '19, wrist back in '15 - yeah, now I understand. . .
Thanks for the good wishes and thoughts, folks. I appreciate 'em very much.
