Sid:

Isn?t it remarkable that in 1929, it took so much in talent and resources to go 200 mph in a special construction vehicle (The Golden Arrow at $700,000+ in today?s dollars)? Today, a private constructor with limited funds has built a motorcycle powered streamliner to run record speeds in excess of 350 mph. Of course, development has yielded very small engines capable of very high HP, making it possible to build very small frontal area cars. I am in awe of what was done in past LSR but am in near disbelief what is happening today.

I've always loved the design of The Golden Arrow & the era it ran.
Not trying blowing my own horn John but you should see my liner, it's the smallest big liner ever built & it's TT 638 cu in with 4WD.

Sid:

It sounds like your liner is almost built so would it be possible to give us all a look? I am more than a little curious.

Golden Arrow is my favorite of the pre-war land speed racers.... What a great look, doesn't resemble anything else. You know instantly it's the Golden Arrow. Totally distinctive, and it can only be one thing when you glimpse it - a racecar that means business.

My big long pile of parts is also like nothing that's been built before. Building a variation of the same design's as everybody else is likely to get you the similar results.
My shed is only 30ft & the liner is 40ft when assembled so the nose hangs from the roof at one end, all the body skins live in a rack hanging from the roof on one side, I live up a ladder in a loft at the other end & the tail stands on it's end by the mill that is the only place left with enough height for it to fit. The whole building is like a liner, 10-lb of $hit in a 5-lb box.
I'm down to the last of the final assembling now with only a few small fab items to be done & then the wiring ordeal will begin.
I haven't taken many pics during the build simply because you just can't get back from it far enough & I can only get the roller door up about 3ft before it runs into the nose hanging from the roof. The whole place is a cluster, one fool should had never started building a big boat in a small boathouse but the belly tank just didn't blow my skirt up. I need to get the nose & tail outside to get some elbow room but I need some help to do that.
I'll see what I can do in the way of some pics.

I can appreciate your space problem, Sid. A 21 foot car in an 18 foot garage.
