Well guys all of us Brits and other International racers will not be there. There is no way unless you connected to the President can we get in. So, please stay safe and well. Go fast safely and above all get home in one piece. GOOD LUCK Everyone.

Hey Jon

Please reserve a 2020 mask for me - I know you are knee deep in SW but once the salt settles I still want some masks and tees.

Ironically the race number I reserved for the Lakester when we were at SW2019 with Geoff 7707 was 2020 (as in 'with hindsight ....') but I had left my crystal ball at home (too heavy for hand luggage) and had no idea what that number / date would come to mean.

Stay alert for viruses people. Wear your nomex head sock and helmet (visor down) when at the casino bars.
A Bonneville Lakester please barman.
Certainly sir; a lick of salt, a sip of gas and a twist of Lemming. More Lemming sir?
Just a squeeze.

A Squeeze of Lemming it is sir.

Can racers from NZ (which is almost free of Covid-19) get in?  I notice Reg Cook has two vehicles entered.

I think their concern would be more about getting back into NZ, not the US. They have mandatory 14 quarantine for all returning travelers (even citizens) and this is not a self-quarantine or quarantine at home, you are taken to a government facility where you stay for at least 14 days when you return. That is assuming they let you in which is definitely not assured since they say the border is closed to all but essential travel. NZ is not taking any of this lightly.

They can get in from NZ. Going back is compulsory 14 day quarantine in a hotel at your own expense. A friend has just got in to LA from NZ a week or so ago.

I'll start a new topic later, but for now:

I got on the salt about 5 this afternoon.  It was a hazy 100F.   From Land's End to the pits is about 3 miles of hard and pretty smooth salt, with it getting a bit damper as I got closer to the pit area.  I'll get a pic up for you later tonight.

The start line is only a quarter-mile or so off Land's End, and all the salt is pretty hard.  I didn't see anything scary (like a year or two ago) on the way to the line.  I could discern where the underground river crossed the area - but only by visual cues -- no soft spots.  Course 2 runs kinda parallel to the dike - maybe a half mile or more off it (I didn't look carefully).

That's enough - gotta go check into the motel.   Later - -
