Has a cutoff decision date been established as to whether Speedweeks is a Go or Cancelled if the virus continues?

That is probably more up to various levels of government than the organizers and how does this logically become a poll?

Pete I agree, there is no poll now... I do not see anyone on this site that makes those kinds of decisions... If it turns bad from here this thread is gone.

All,

This is not official word of any kind, the reality is that we are not in control.

If we were, this conversation would be different.

I am under the impression that we are racing until informed that we are not. I know, plans have to be made, travel etc.

Be diligent, and for Gods sake, take care of yourselves and loved ones, John

I would say that any of the "interested parties" could give the final word to cancel the (any) event.  That is, whether SCTA/BNI or BLM or the Governor of Utah or whomever says "It's not gonna be allowed to take place" - that's it.  Yeah, I'm pedantic, but what the heck - there's not much else going on.

The SCTA will hold it's monthly board meeting via Zoom on May 1st.
The decision to hold Speedweek will be a topic discussed for sure but a decision may not be made at that time.
Stand by.

There should be a change in the Pre entry deadline by April 30th considering the SCTA at the May 1st board meeting will include the discussion to hold Speedweek as a topic to be discussed even if a decision may not be made at that time. I realize a pre entry list is important especially in the printing deadline for the Speedweek program however its also important for racers pre entering to know there not going to loose money when the decision may be made shortly after this deadline to postpone the event.

Along with all this societal insanity, since there has been no pumping, does anyone have a clue as to the potential salt surface? Thanks, and be well.

Where did you hear there has been no pumping? To the contrary, there has been pumping this season.

"Where did you hear there has been no pumping? To the contrary, there has been pumping this season."

I was under the impression that the surface is determined (to a certain degree) not only by the pumping but also by the subsequent draining of the brine.
I also heard that the "salt bandits" are out of business and have moved on from Wendover. Who would do the pumping if they are gone?

Hey, Mike
You most likely know more than I, but I?m curious who is doing the pumping. Thanks.

From the SCTA Facebook page:
The 2020 SW Pre-Entry Date Has Been Extended Until May 15th.
If you would like your entry to be in the SW Program you must either have it in the SCTA/BNI Office by the 15th or submitted online by 12:00 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time) on the 15th.
If you do not want to be in the SW Program, you can still enter online after the 15th.
