Monte, do you reckon USFRA will render an early decision (before entry deadline) on the meet this year?

Second question; will USFRA move registration closing to a later date?

According to Ellen at USFRA last week-they are full speed ahead and it will be a go as long as conditions remain the same! Didn?t ask and she didn?t say about the early deadline but I would figure it will remain the same- hope we get to go!!  :clap

I apologize for being slow to respond.  The USFRA has not been able to hold our monthly club meetings, including one that should have been tonight.  This of course has put us behind in what would be our normal planning and scheduling for the World of Speed.
Dennis and Larry made a visit to the salt recently and found that it is drying and relatively smooth.  However, they have not been able to verify that any pumping was performed by Intrepid this past winter.  There are so many variables facing us currently, that we have not been comfortable saying with any certainty that World of Speed will or will not go forward this year.
The USFRA officers have been staying in contact with each other, and as it stands now, we will have a July club meeting and use that forum to make some decisions.  Until then, you will just have to be patient with us.  We want to make informed decisions that will be in the best interest of the racers, club members, volunteers, and the salt flats.
I will do a better job of keeping all of you up to date with the information as it becomes available.

No need to apologize, we are struggling to come up with any solid decisions. Wait and see is the best we can say so far. We also do not want to overstate salt conditions. That may be the ultimate deciding factor, more than virus conditions.

The July 1 meeting is scheduled to be held at Hogan Park (750 W 1500 S, Woods Cross) at 7:00 PM. There is a pavilion with benches, but you are welcome to bring your own chair in order to better social distance. Masks are encouraged as well. You may also want to use mosquito repellant.  This is an important meeting to discuss World Of Speed.  We look forward to finally seeing everyone again!

Me too. Surely, someone at the meeting must know what has been decided.

We did in fact have our meeting last night. It was quite well attended.
Thanks to everyone that came out in support of the USFRA.
There have been some decisions made and some issues still to be determined. First off, it was decided that we will proceed to plan for hosting the World of Speed this September. There are of course things that will be beyond our control and you all pretty well know that Covid-19 will have a major say in what transpires.
Salt conditions will play a big roll in the decision making process as well.
That said, there are two remaining hurdles for us to clear before we can keep going. We decided to set a deadline of July 31st as our first go, no go, date. We will need to have 100 paid entries at that time for us to move forward from there. If there is a cancelation, we will give refunds to those that registered. Also the late fees we'll be waived until the July 31st date.
Another concern is that we be able to get people here from the SCTA that can serve to certify the records. No record certifiers, no meet.
So, if you plan to attend, please send in your entry right away.
More info as we move along in this process.
