Bad News From Australia
« on: March 23, 2020, 03:33:36 PM »
I heard Yesterday (second hand) that the current meet in Australia has been canceled due to the virus.  Marlo and everyone else were not able to leave the Port of Entry.  I would bet that He will leave His shipping containers in Australia and hope for the best......

Well that really sucks to get all the way over there and get shut down. I agree it would be best to leave everything there and wait for another chance.

DLRA web site says 8-12 March 2021 and 4-8 March 2022. Don't they schedule it around the full moon?

I think they schedule it around no moon, low tide. Stainless and I just got back from Australia. After the race was canceled it rained on the salt. We had a motor home so we drove The Great Ocean Road from March 18-31. We traveled over 1800 miles.

13 March 2021 is date of new moon, so that makes sense.

It took a long time to get the club to do this but it has meant less cancellations. The critical part is if it rains when the tide is "in"  it won't go away..thats the end of the meet. We've had rain during recent meets, notably an inch in 2018 and we were racing the next day.
Scheduling meets away from  the full moon itself wasn't difficult, dealing with all the people who said it was bulldust was what made it a slow process.
Few understand what I'm trying to do but they vastly outnumber those who understand why...................

Wow!

You're way ahead of us.  Does someone make a chart or something that somehow accurately predicts when the moon comes around?

We can't seem to predict a fricking thing in this country to take advantage of conditions before they they get here.  Is it in the Horrorscopes?

August 18th is the new moon (black moon) and Speedweek is the 8th - 14th.

Close but no cigar.

By They I was referring to mankind not the SCTA.
