I would also suggest a narrow radiator too.  Something more of a Ducati style would get a lot of metal out of the wind.  Put that on next year's list.

Earlier R1 tail be a close fit ?

regarding Stainless's comment , i have cut tanks and hammered
cut initially flattened the top of the tank , but it did not realy get my head much lower and i lost some of the area you grip with your knees and elbows
on the other hand hammering works very well , with rubber mallet in hand , sit on the bike in race position and anywhere the tank is intrusive hit it
you end up with a dish for the helmet , another for the belly , and may have indents for elbows , it comes out looking surprisingly smooth. First tank i did barely needed repainting , just paint cracking at the edge of the dish

Make your own tail section, a cardboard template, sheet aluminum and some rivets is all that's needed.

It would be a good idea to race the bike before you change the tank.  It will seem less high and big when the seat is installed.  Some people feel more secure and like the feeling of leaning down against the back of the tank.

If I were you, I would certainly put on a bigger fender/mud guard on the rear wheel. That hugger on there will not stop any salt from getting all over you and everything on the bike. Perhaps you can incorporate the rear fairing to be a fender. Do whatever you can to stop the salt from getting on your electrical connections. Speaking of that, make sure all connections are slathered with silicone grease.

One more thing - since you are running naked, make sure the rear fairing/fender can't be construed as an aerodynamic aid. That is against the rules. So read that part of the rule book carefully.

Finally got rear fairing sorted.  In factory form using factory mounts, the fairing stuck past the rear wheel over an inch and a half.  I fabbed up some mounts that allow me to slide the fairing forward in order to be legal and still allowing me to relocate it back to stock mounts if I lengthen swingarm.  Exhaust is still coming from Italy...has been almost 6 weeks...I hear that italy just resumed import/export operations so hoping to see it soon!

Thought I would give an update on how things went.
Ran the bike this year at Speedweek 2021.  We arrived Thursday and got our spot picked out for the pit.   Friday went through Tech inspection and it went very well.  No hiccups and ready to run.  Attended drivers meeting and rookie orientation then drug the bike out for the first run on the rookie course.  As I was shifting up, I snapped my shift linkage knuckle ( the piece that clamps to the shift shaft)  Completely my fault as i was a bit to hard on the shifting and my GP Shift setup wasn't setup at the proper angle.   Pretty bummed out and realized that was one of the only parts I had not brought with me.  After asking, begging, and pleading with numerous teams for parts, Al Lambs Dallas Honda team came through!  They gave me a stock CBR shift linkage and I was able to fab up a Frankenstein linkage from the Yamaha/Honda parts.  Big thanks to Al and his team!!!  I got an opportunity to chat with Al for a little while as well which was a bonus!
Back to the rookie course on Sunday morning.  Had to run under 150 for licensing...ran 156mph and got a "talking to"  Turned around and ran again at a 137 for my D license.  Went back to the rookie course and ran 161.779mph for my C License.
Monday morning we towed the bike down to Course #2.  I was limited to Short course only so I ran the bike and went 169.349 at the 2 1/4 and was stoked!   The line was pretty long on course #2 so we went back to #3 and I ran the bike and hit a very mushy spot and had to get out of the gas a bit.  That run logged a 137.997mph.  We went back to the pit and I decided on a gearing change and went from a 38 to a 36 tooth rear   Went back to course #2 and waiting in line for hours.  Finally got to the front of the line and they called it quits at 5:30pm for the day which means I was first up the next morning after the record return runs!
Tuesday morning we watched the record return runs, then I suited up and got ready to go.   I finally left the line at 845am and ran 176.928mph at the 3 mile and 176.210mph at the 2 1/4 which qualified me for my B license and Long course!  Ran the bike again around noon for the full 5 miles and my exit speed was 175.487.  I didn't shift out of 5th gear and the bike was still slightly accelerating.  The record WAS 185.250 before it was bumped up by Hunter Sills later in the week to around 188.
I am very happy for the bikes first time ever out on the salt.  I have to give a shout out to Eric Dorn at EDR Performance in Beaverton Oregon for the Awesome map he built me when I brought the bike out for a dyno session.   I have plenty to do and a lot of ways forward to improve Aero and add some HP.
Cant wait until next year!
