Hey Scott, is it relevant whether the bike was blown or unblown?
I only ask because I think Ralph was unblown in Bolivia?

That's a good question but
It is not relevant to this list.

The list is just for the rider,
and what he did.  I have included
as much additional information as
is practical.

It not always easily known how the
engine and bike were modified , or
what class the bike ran in - if it was even
IN a particular class at the time.

Some folks, like Texas and Mojave have
classes that do not translate well to
SCTA classes, like "Hayabusa," "LSR"or "VIPER"

Would it be possible to go fast enough to set a record in Bolivia on a naturally aspirated bike?

I think it would be certainly possible to
set a normally-aspired record in Bolivia,
but the machine at 12,000 feet altitude
would be slower than the same vehicle at sea level.

What an amazing piece of work for all of the 'sit on' riders and enthusiasts of data to enjoy. Well done in compiling this work.

The latest 'certified' speeds from the UK are at the end of this link. Changes in decimal places are now going to be important

This UK document was produced by the Chief Timekeeper Martyn Greathead for all Straightliners/UK Timing Association events. [A couple of cars have slipped into the listing so they need to be ignored - Julian Webb and Mike Little.]

UK rider (and Grandfather) Mike Grainger appears twice #47 and #59 but his speed is now higher than that of Les Marsh.

The expectation is that in the right weather the Brits will be going faster in 2020. :-D

Well, it looks like we'll get a chance to find out, as Mike Akatiff just announced that there will be another FIM-sanctioned meet there in July of this year.  This time, it's being sponsored by Monaco-based Venturi (who also sponsors the Buckeye Bullet), who is supposed to be undertaking measures to address the logistics problems that plagued the previous events there.  And, the plans include an FIA & FIM meet in 2021!

See "Upcoming Events" at the end of the Forum.

FIM allows Nitrous in NA classes , pretty sure 2 out of 3  NA bikes that have run there are using it

Maybe it was a dry dream, but I seem to remember when they first ran there, the unblown bikes ran as fast or faster there than at sea level.  It was explained that the lesser wind resistance offset the lack of H.P. because of the air density.  I assume they changed jetting to accommodate the air change.

It's a good question and you may be correct.

Unlike the SCTA and the BNI, the FIM does NOT
have a "gas class," so EVERYTHING is in a fuel class.

The better question for us may be whether or not the
normally aspired bikes in Bolivia are faster
than the equivalent FUEL bikes
at El Mirage and Bonneville.

Thanks Malcom.

I think I have made all the necessary changes,
and I welcome anybody to help with changes needed.

So yes, Malcom, this is a bit of a labor of love,
since there is otherwise NO central source
for this information, and I think we agree that
it DOES need to be preserved,
and yes, down to the last decimal.

I appreciate your help.

Cheers, Scott
