Past Bonnevilles
« on: January 21, 2020, 03:37:05 PM »
How about combo-ing past Bonnevilles under a single heading. Leave the current year and the 1 past year on their own. Thanks

JD what would you like to call it.... I think it is a good idea, all we have to do now is talk the Boss into it.

Change just for the sake of change?
What's wrong with the way that it is now?

Many haven't been opened for years and the would not be going away and with the proper heading easily found.  There are others that haven't been opened for up to 8 years. They should stay here for those looking but be under a combo title.

I think J.D.'s got a good idea there.  They maybe could be grouped under one heading, and then sub-grouped (if possible) by years for easy access to a particular time.

Maybe like an archive area?  BTWE is that something we can do?

I've been watching.  I managed to get kinda busy at Kudos Laser so haven't done anything, but if I remember correctly, what I'll do is make a main  topic of SpeedWeek(s) and then "child boards" for each of the old years..

If you want SpeedWeek '14 or whatever you'd click on "Old SpeedWeeks" or whatever I'll call it, and then you'd get a dropdown of the various old events of which one you'd choose.  I think that's how it goes.  Is that whatcha wants?

I'm also thinking you should lock the old ones... If someone wants to discuss something they saw in a 10 year old post they can start a new topic in Bonneville general chat.
JD does this get close to what you had in mind.

I guess that I am missing the point of this.

Why the push to make it harder for folks to find/access the information available here?

What exactly is the problem that these proposed changes will fix?

Your point is well taken but you also might notice that NO ONE else has a problem with this...

I don't have a problem either, it's just my pragmatic brain working overtime.

For me, the simplest solution is, "if it ain"t broke........"
and in this situation, I honestly don't see a problem that needs resolved.

I am just a casual observer here,
but since I have started building my bmst bike, I have scoured the internet in search of information.
I keep coming back here because of the amount of easily available, relevant info.
That what I like best about this forum.

This is just the opinion of a new guy without a dog in the fight.
I'll go back to lurking now.

I think there is no problem "now" but there will be in the notional future when there are 37 annual Speedweek threads on the screen before you can get to General Chat or Build Threads.
I have no idea what I'm doing... but it seems to be working!
