Here's a shot of both body and frame. You can see the frame and Chevy V8 in the lower left corner of the shot.

J.H. ?Stormy? Mangham built more than one Texas Ceegar. Motorcycle Classics has a good article with more photos?and a very interesting story about George Roeder and the Harley-Davidson/Aermacchi-powered streamliner.

As I recall from a old Hot Rod magazine Big John had a three liter Chevy V8 in it as Lassen and Cumming built one for their car steam-liner I know it possible have one. That would make it legal under FIM rules and the FIM does not care about the origins of a engine come from. Is it legal under AMA rules who knows?

Certainly a 3,000cc "small Block" would solve the displacement issue,
but I wonder if those folks would have taken the time money and
resources to do that without "proving" the bike.

That would have been inexpensively done with a stock engine.

Is it possible that a 267mph RECORD would have been
the absolute fastest record at that time ?

If yes, that's a big incentive !

IF we considered 3-wheel vehicles (That is, three tracks)
as motorcycles, that probably Craig Breedlove would be at the top
with a 2-way average of over 526 mph.

What was his best one-way or exit speed with that car ?

I don't know if Big John ever ran at Bonneville. I never read about it after the first article in Hot Rod. Remember they had a Sportster streamliner as well two Aermacchi streamliners to run. The report of their runs at Bonneville said the salt was very wet and slippery.
I think only the 250 set a record. I don't think they ever when back to try again. I also think Stormy Mangham stop racing after this. Jack Wilson of Big "D" Triumph in Dallas, TX end up with one streamliner that he put a Triumph Triple in.

I am personally inclined to say that a motorcycle
leaves either one track (2 wheels in line) or two tracks
with 2 wheels in line, and a 3rd wheel - like a sidecar.

The FIA (cars) thinks a 3-track vehicle - like
Breedlove - is a CYCLECAR, and not a motorcycle.

The fact that the FIM (motorcycles) has a class
for 3-wheelers with 3 tracks does NOT
make that vehicle a motorcycle.

The FIM also has records for SNOWMOBILES
(AND, one got into the 200 mph club),
but FIM sanction does NOT make a snowmobile
a motorcycle, since a snowmobile has NO wheels......

Just to nitpick, I believe the snowmobile that was at the 2009 Cooks Shootout did have wheels on the front. (still not a motorcycle)
Correct me if I'm wrong.

I've got a few more pics, but I think this shows Don is right.  I remember they had two drive belts -- one "special", designed for the salt, and one standard (for the snow, silly).  The special one didn't work worth a damn so they used the plain ol' rubber track on their highest-speed runs.

They were from Quebec so their language was pretty foreign, but they sure did get regular drunk on the wine they enjoyed after the runs.

Slim:  That looks to me (and from Google Images) to
actually have four (4) wheels - a tandem on BOTH sides.

Since it is propelled by the track(s), does that make it
a HALF-TRACK, in military terminology ?

At the time, Cook Shootout 2009, I had extensive conversations with the FIM rep on the salt. There is a snowmobile definition and rule set in the FIM rule book. It was determined that the entry was in compliance for record attempts.

As president of the Bonneville 200 MPH Club I did an email poll of the standing board and received support to warrant membership to the rider. If anyone cares to research back 10 years there is plenty to read on the subject.

I think you did exactly the correct and honorable thing Dan,
and I too support having the man in the Bonneville 200 mph Club.

I just don't think it's a motorcycle.........
