Removing posts on sold items

After an item in the for sale section has been sold I think it would be a good idea to delete that post. What do others think?

I'll give my opinion - if that's what it is.  We've talked about this a good number of times over the years.

I leave the posts up until asked by the seller to remove 'em -- even if the item is sold.  Yes, it does present an inconvenience now and then (from someone trying to buy a piece that was sold long ago), but we've chosen to do this to allow those ads to be an archive (fancy word, hey?) that serves as a price guide, if you will.

And that's it.  I'm open to changing the way we do it.  But -- there's always this just waiting to happen:

Keep 'em but remove the seller's contact info on request.  Just sayin'.

Generally if I see something has sold, I mark the title with sold.... that keeps a reference of what something sold for.... or that is what was asked and it  was sold for some price. 
Rarely have I seen a request for removal...
If it is sold, the seller should post or ask for removal in my opinion....

You can delete my post about Triumph parts for sale.  There was no interest in them.
