Special construction 1000CC Gas NA motor
« on: November 28, 2006, 02:50:17 PM »
Sorry for so many questions but the SCTA rule book is still not available. So I just want to clarify. In the 1000cc A/AG class I can do anything I want to my motor as long as I
1) use the gas sold at the meet
2) come in under 1000cc and larger then 750cc
3) don't use forced air intake.
In other words FI either mech or electric is fine, any compression I can build to , any number of valves , etc...
Thanks
Greg

Clarifications to your list:
The motor must be motorcycle based.
IF there is gas sold at the meet, otherwise section 2.B Fuels says the gasoline must have a dielectric constant of 2.025, or zero on the SCTA fuel check meter.

Not true. You can't use a turbocharger or supercharger.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.

The specs. for gasoline motors are the same for both the Modified Production and Special Construction categories. You have correctly defined the parameters. Ram air is allowed as a naturally "forced air" induction. ERC supplies quality fuels at all SCTA meets . Their gasoline is required in the gas classes and their techs will be glad to recommend the proper fuel. Hint: The octane requirement decreases with altitude.

In all due respect Larry you might want to add in the duration of the time at WOT as well. I suspect what might be a good blend of gasoline at Denver for a drag race might not be the hot setup at the 5 mile marker..

RELAX

ERC does not provide fuels at Bonneville based on Drag Race requirements or conditions at Denver.

Jack the conversation was about octane... Not all the other things in that hydocarbon soup refered to as gasoline... I was also suggesting that comparing gasoline by octane numers is not a good idea as it is only a small part of the blend. Octane is not that great a reference anyway there are none above 100 anything over that is sort of an estimate.. Perfomance # might be a better term.. You can not have more than 100% of anything so using a term like 110 octane might be a little misleading.. Assuming we all know what octane refers to as well...

Actually, you can use forced air intake and achieve boost, you just can't do it with a turbocharger or supercharger.
