Bonneville is NOT a National Monument
« on: October 23, 2019, 07:01:37 AM »
In other posts, I see references to Bonneville as a ?National Monument?, or ?the monument?.  Unfortunately, it?s not a National Monument.  If it were, mining would not be legal there.  Rather, it?s a ?Special Recreation Management Area? (SRMA).  What?s the difference?  Obviously, mining is legal in a SRMA.
I don?t know if racing is legal in a National Monument, but perhaps we should look into the possibility of having its designation changed.  I doubt if we?d have any luck with the the current administration, which has already stripped some National Monuments in Utah of area, specifically to allow mining.

It also is an "area of critical environmental concern." Yeah, right.
