From the Carbiliner Facebook page just now:

Update: CT scan was ?relatively? good, no major bleeding or swelling... "TBI" he is very sleepy but responds to touch and pain but not auditory commands. Some facial fractures, but they are of lesser concern. Great team monitoring his status here at University of Utah Hospital.
Holy crap, sorry to hear about Rob! Is there any update?

posted out on Carbinite LSR:

Updates on Rob will come out as we get them for now we ask for continued prayer for his recovery.

I also have to give a big thank you to the USFRA and it's crew. In a traumatic experience they went well beyond being course stewards and starters. My interactions with them today created a lasting impression. I can't thank them enough for their support and help both professionally and personally.

Also to the governing bodies that put safety rules in place. The wreck was massive and the forces were unbelievable. The car all but disintegrated from the impact yet the cockpit is almost undamaged. Rob was 100% contained in that cockpit. Amazingly, he suffered no broken bones and is in pretty good physical condition which is astounding.

Please continue to pray for Rob's recovery as we get through the next few days, it will be appreciated.

 That's good news, hope everything else is alright after being banged around at that high speed.

  Get well Rob we're all pulling for you.

Gregg Adams commented on a FB post;

I heard Glen announce on CB that he was 391 in the last mile and then milliseconds later yelled "crash". Brandon posted he was over 400 on the exit speed.

Really sad. The Carbiliner was such a marvel of ingeniuity, and the build quality was top notch.
Wonder what happened. Wishing Rob a full and speedy recovery.

This was posted on their FB page and hour ago;

This post is from Sue, Rob?s wife. I would first like to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes. And very special thanks to the safety team, first responders, and the whole team at the hospital.

We all know the dangerous nature of this sport. Rob has always been obsessed with going fast. He has a brilliant mind and persevering nature. While the project never had my full blessing because of the risk of something like this happening, I could not force him to give up his dream either. The team did get it right when designing the car for safety. He would not be alive if the car didn?t do exactly what it was designed to do.

Right now, we are in a holding pattern of waiting. He does have a serious head injury. He is sedated, in ICU, with lots of tubes and monitors and frequent testing. He is on a breathing machine. He does respond to pain and his pupils are reacting. Some positives but he is definitely not out of the woods yet. We have a lot of questions that will take time to answer. God is sovereign and has this under control. More than anything, Rob desired to glorify God in his life. I don?t know why this happened this way, or what the outcome will be. Please continue to pray and we will update when possible.

I've just opened a topic about Rob in the Health and Welfare section of the Forum.  Post your stuff wherever you want -- but at least now there's a place where we can be focused on him and his recovery.
