True, but be aware that Nevada Highway 318 is also the route of the Silver State Classic Challenge open road race, which is scheduled for September 12 to 15 this year.  So, depending on your dates of travel, NV-318 might be closed and you'll have to take US-93 instead.

The last time I went up that route at this time in Sept I saw lots of interesting cars wearing numbers.

Yah, but if you stay on 93 you can stop in Caliente for a beer across the tracks, check out the Cathedral Gorge State Park (northern entrance), and take the Pioche loop and see the Brunswick bar from Massachusetts around the horn at the National Hotel.

The shorter way ain't always the best way.
