rider medical insurance
« on: July 15, 2019, 08:56:18 AM »
Hi all.
I notice in the new rule book that rider medical insurance is now mandatory for all riders. We are coming from the UK where this is always included in the meeting entry but I presume this is not the case at Bonneville Speed Trials? We have already joined the AMA for this year so would this be the place to go for insurance? Any advice welcomed. Thanks, Miki.

Hi Miki
I managed to find a couple of insurers in the UK that would cover me if I ever got to run out on the salt. I will see if I can dig the details up somewhere. Someone else from the UK might be able to chip in with help as well as I know at least a couple from here have arranged insurance in the past. I can say it was not the astronomical sum of money I expected it to be.

Cheers
John

Hi Miki.
Try Reis Motorsports Insurance. If you can speak to Anele, she was incredibly helpful when I was chatting to her last year.
Aneles number - D:   0115 965 1053

Good luck.

The cost may be reasonable if the coverage does not include long-term custodial care. My mother's bill after Medicare was $30,000 a month.

Can I suggest you contact John Price at Flint Insurance in London. John is well known in racing and has arranged my medical cover for the past 5 years.

The question relates to the poster coming from the UK. We have to arrange special racing cover just in case.

I think your medical covers you DRW, but it might be worth double checking with Linneah or Delvene just to clarify. For us from this side of the pond further insurance is required. Generally speaking our travel insurance wont cover us for eating extra hot and spicy tacos let alone stepping foot on the salt. The good thing is that relatively speaking it is pretty affordable to get the insurance in place.
Oh wow. 3 weeks to go.  8-)

See you all very soon.

Officially: "Riders medical insurance is the sole responsibility of the rider. The AMA does not provide, or have a suggested provider, for medical insurance. Information is requested on the rider medical form completed during registration, and type of coverage is determined by each individual participant."

Thanks for all the replies. I went with Flint insurance here in the UK. ?300 for travel insurance to include racing on the salt at Speed Week. I am happy with that.
See you all in a couple of weeks and lets hope it has dried out by then!
