I recall when his mom got out of prison, she was nicknamed, "Recently Released Rotund".

http://www.dodgebrothersclub.org/pictures/Documents/1927%20DBC%20Papers_0019.jpg   Now I know who the REAL Seldom Seen Slim is.

I think Jon told the story of how he acquired the name a long time ago. I can't remember if it was before or after he acquired the site from Jon Amo. I do think you've found the source.

Nancy and I were driving through Death Valley and stopped at Ballarat -- home of the other SSS.  Nancy saw Slim's name on the building and his tombstone and everything and said "That'd be a good name for our race team".  The rest is history.

That would have been in '02 or so.  I bought the site in '08.

Thanks for the update Jon. As the years pass time just seems to run together. Things are either recently or a while ago.

I re-read my story from '07 (thanks for the link, Mike) and realised that I've been the Potentate of Porta Potties for more than a decade.  I hope youse guys don't think I'm hoarding all of the fun.

Ive seen a car driver in rush hour on the Beltway working a laptop that was perched partly on the steering wheel and partly on his chest. At 70 mph.
