Belt Recert
« on: April 24, 2019, 10:47:28 AM »
Hi All
I was looking at my belts today for dates. When I laid them out I found what might be an issue that needs clarification. I had all the belts recerted at the same time June of 17, 1 has a SFI tag with the dates punched out. the others have tags that say good till June 2019. SCTA states belts certification is good for 5 years. I see a possible conflict at Tech. Can someone from Tech please chime in.

They are good for 5 years from the date of Manufacture... you are good, they are familiar with the SFI 2 year rule

But don't take my word... the rule book has official answers and folks listed to give them.... right Stan?

No conflict.
All belts are good for 5 years after the date on the tag with the SCTA.
This was just reaffirmed at the SCTA Inspectors Clinic last weekend.

Thats all well and good but 3 of the belts don't have a month/year of manufacturer, they just have an expiry date.

From the 2019 SCTA Rule Book...

All belts shall be in good condition and have a manufacture’s
tag with a legible date not more than 5 years old on the
label or an SFI tag with a “Valid Until” date. The Valid
Until date will be accepted up to 3 years after the
date on the tag
(i.e., a June 2019 valid date will be
accepted until June 2022).
