Moon discs for my '18 Chevy Coolroad
« on: March 08, 2019, 11:24:42 AM »
I mean Colorado.  Anyway, I want to put Moons on it and figure I'd just get a set of cheapo steel wheels, weld on the tabs and go.  Maybe not. . .

Plain steel wheels are $200 each for the truck.  WTRoyalF?  I could buy fancy wheels for less than that.  Maybe I should just bondo the wheel tabs to the factory aluminum wheels.  Or maybe one of youse guys will come up with the greatest idea since doorknob grease.  I loom forward to your suggestions, and no, Jerry, don't go off on a Foolish Friday rant, you hear?  I'm serious.

Jon,

I you have not already, I would call Moon and ask them. As they may make snap on Discs for those type of wheels, instead of screw on. And they sell direct over the phone.  Just a thought.

. . . and Moon and Chico are great SCTA sponsors.

Snap-on discs?  Put your ear close to the wheel and the cry out phony!!!

But if you're going with 6-screw-ons on new wheels, consider moving the valve stems to the inside.

The first time I ever had 'em I used the screw-in type.  Noisy - more than with Dzus buttons, and - too many times I'd find a screw had loosened/corroded/let go and whoops, there goes a disc passing us on the Dan Ryan freeway in south Chicago.

I'll see what Moon has to say.  Thanks.

I had the same problem with the screw-ons – and seldom checked the air pressure.

I use button head screws from inside with a little sealer and screws tight , then nuts of your choice outside , not a problem !!  Pic of Bantam w/ turbo , port inject ,  w/ alcohol  ..      STEVE
