Plan on camping outside the bend -- inside is gooey mud just now...  I don't know how the BLM feels about fires these days, but their bailiwick is only inside the Bend.  Outside is state land - I do know I see fires in the evening.

Can't y'alls dump a few dozen truck loads of tampons down the course to take care of that standing water?  I'm only going to be there for the weekend.  Sure hope it's not delayed for two days.

I've put in a call for the tampon trucks for you, but bad news -- the reclaim vehicles aren't running so we can't try the soaker-uppers.  Got another idea?

I'm plumb out of ideas unfortunately. These nuggets of brilliance only come every so often you know...

Go left at the bend up Leppy pass and there is plenty of dry mud free camping up the hill

Ron is out on the salt right now and reports it's like walking on cottage cheese.  Interesting description for sure, or maybe it's like mashed potatoes.

Whatever, here's where things stand now:  Today will be what Friday oughta be - set up and inspection for racers.  No changes.  But as of now (at least) racing won't start for another day or two.  The drivers meeting is still scheduled for Saturday morning - but probably no racing 'til Sunday or even Monday.

STAY OFF THE RACE COURSES if you're out there, got it?

So if there's no racing on Sunday would there still be crews out on the salt preparing, or will there be no access? Just wondering where we should head to check out the motors as were arriving Saturday afternoon. I assume The Nugget hot rod meet will still be happening on Saturday evening, the wife does like a hot rod.

It's about 11.30 Friday morning.  No racing for the time being.  You're welcome to drive out here, but not on the courses.  Come out to the pits and set up.

I assume the cars will be at the Nugget, but since it's pretty unofficial - I don't know if there's a schedule or if it's just "show up and park".

We probably will NOT stream until there's racing.  The drivers meeting is on for tomorrow morning but since that's all the program content we'd have for the day -- we won't bother turning it on and then off.  We're thinking of trying to record the meeting for later broadcast.

Thank you for the updates!  This is most helpful to those of us trying to figure out when to come to the flats!  Wonder when the bend will dry up enough for a truck and toyhauler?

The SCTA-BNI Facebook page now says "...officially delayed at least one day."  But Driver's Meeting still on for 0900 Saturday.

Inside the bend - ah, I sure wouldn't go there for a few days.

Drivers meeting will NOT be at the start line like usual, but rather across the access road from the main pit entrance.  The stand is being set up as I type.

Maybe I've missed it but is there going to be a live stream for those of us stuck elsewhere this year?  Had every intention of attending but back surgery has made other plans for me for the time being...

I'll keep an eye on updates. We're getting the RV tomorrow so will be visiting The Nugget to see if there's any rods to check out. Not sure of where we'll pitch up, will keep away from the Bend in the rental. Fingers crossed for drying winds, think I saw radar of storms coming through this morning.

We plan to stream the audio when we start racing, but we won't for tomorrow's only activity -- the drivers meeting at 9.  We'll broadcast it locally on 89.3 FM - which is already running with some music.

Here's some of what's at the Nugget tonight.
