Smith's grocery store doesn't accept Visa credit cards any more.

That's a "go figger" - usually it's the AMEX that gets refused - higher merchant fees.

Smiths/Kroger are in a fight with Visa over fees. If your visa card is also a debit card you can still use it with a pin at Smiths
Records or parts, I didn't come all this way not to break something.

Pit cruising takes too frickin' long when I have to get out of the truck and greet folks so much.  Ain't it wonderful?  Here's a bunch of "who's here" pics.  It's still early - and the weather is cool and breezy west-to-east and cloudy.

Marcia Buck Baker's hot rod -- it's first visit to the salt.

Keith Turk is here, Marlo Treit is here, Melanie and George said hello, and so it goes.  When will you get here?

Jon, I wish I was (were?) there right now! Unfortunately that will happen next month at WoS.
 Thank you for these photos!

We're having intermittent light sprinkles and 10-15 mph winds from the mountains to the freeway. :-(

I'll bet Marcia never took the coupe out in winter because there was too much salt on the roads in Maine.

It's 3.15 and there's not much happening.  Inspection is busy but lines are short.  The 639 Ducati I'll be riding is in insp. right now, and the weather is - unh, kinda bland.  The rain stopped and the clouds gave way to sun for a while but now we're back to heavy clouds and NE winds about 5-10MPH.

It's 4.20 local time.  Light but steady rain but we press on with setup.  I'm waiting to see a race car go past me with the wipers going.  WHOA!  Big lightning flash.

Yep, the weather has gone sour for today.

And now I'm in town.  It was raining lightly but steadily for most of the past half hour/hour, and windy?  Ron Christensen and I were at the radio trailer, trying to hold the door closed in the wind, when a gust blew the trailer hitch off the hunk of wood it was on.  Yee-HaH!

As I left I shot 20 sec of video of the main road through the pits and posted it on my Facebook page.  I won't put the video here, but it shows that the pits are not very hospitable right now.

The rain has now stopped and it's sunny at the Quality Inn.  WTF?  I won't post much more tonight, and tomorrow willhave the fun of seeing if I can make the audio get into the laptop.

Latest SCTA update.

Tom G.

Inspection opened this morning and approximately 70 vehicles were inspected. The Blue Line was put down, comms put up, wire layed for clocks and the Timing Tower is up & running. And then we got hit by a brief squall with wind, rain & hail and there is a small amount of standing water. As of now, the Driver?s Meeting will still be Saturday at 9:00 a.m. We may post pone the start of racing a day or two, but better weather is expected from now on. At this time, we expect to still go racing.Gates open tomorrow @ 7:00 a.m. and Inspection & Registration opens at 9:00 a.m.

JUST A REMINDER, THE NEW SPEED LIMIT FOR THE ACCESS ROAD IS 45 MPH.

See ya on the salt!

New member here.
Hope this is in the right place.
I'm going out to spectate and camp. Can we have a fire pit at our camp at the bend?
I'm probably only going to be there Saturday and Sunday.  Maybe be back again later in the week
