Any suggestions on where to get decent "budget minded" leathers?

You can get pretty good leathers on eBay. The cost is below $500. I have gotten 2 suits there. Just make sure you measure correctly. Most suits come with perforations, but you can tell them you want NO perforations. Virtually all the suit makers are in Pakistan for some reason.

Bates leathers are heavy and cost more but they may be the most cost effective alternative if a crash occurs.

I searched out the heaviest leathers (internet) I could find, then added Kevlar long underwear (props to Mrs. SSS and SSS' anecdote about how hard they were to cut off after her get off).  Yes, expensive but waaay cheaper'n a skin graft.  If we run alcohol this year, will be adding at least a Nomex hood.  Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.  Note: the Kevlar undies actually are fairly cool all things considered.

I have bought previously owned Dainese leathers off of E-bay twice and got lucky twice.

They fit and passed tech.
