Old lakester
« on: January 25, 2019, 11:29:27 PM »
On bring-a-trailer website there's a really neat 1940's lakester. Bidding is now up to $35,000.

I'm not sure I'd like having my arms over the frame hoop to reach the steering wheel though... :-P

Jack, most lakesters built before 1990 probably will not pass tech today unless it has been upgraded and updated a time or two since built.
I doubt that one is being bought to race

I noticed a little wobble in the RF wheel. Interesting to see the order of the dog's paws hitting the ground as he runs.

Neil, duplicating that wobble may have been the hardest part of the restoration!  :-o :-D
Ditto on the hound!

Ya – but it will look great at the Stateline with the rest of the race cars.

There are exhibition events in Europe and the UK where the car can be driven and it would be unique over there.  It would not be a surprise if it is an overseas buyer.

I’m not sure who would buy it here in the UK to be honest or even run it. Certainly not unique as there are a few around. We do have a number of guys that run flathead dragsters here. But if it was over here it could run at Pendine Sands on the beach.... other than there I don’t know where it could run. Certainly interesting and I hope it goes to a good home.
