I often wondered if a big roller like they use on blacktop would work out there to pack it all down?  Has that been tried?

There's been a wheel packer out there for three or four years.  SCTA/BNI got it to use.  I forget the details - two axles with 5-6 tires each with a bed between for adding ballast (weight).  I didn't see it while exploring this year - might have been parked behind one of the groves of trees or down in one of the ravines.

I wonder -- if I had taken the moment to mark the location of the Coddington Calamity on the GPS -- if I could find it, what's the canyon look like today?  How has it healed, is it a permanent soft spot, etc... :?

I'd suggest you go search it out, but not with the new truck.

According to the BLM it's filled in with the "3ft" of salt we don't have.

According to the Tow Trucks owner (Three involved)  He had to pay the BLM six grand for the damage His trucks did trying to get the Circus Bus out of the Ravine.
I know this first hand as He hauled two loads consisting of My loaded truck, the second being My trailer and race car out to the pits after the motor seized up about three miles west of Smith's.
What a fu*king year that was.  I spent five days getting a motor shipped from Phoenix, and Mike Wesche, Lionel Pitts and I spent two days after Speedweek on the salt installing the new motor in 100 + degree heat.
Oh, yeah, We had Rube and Goldberg (two of My crew) "fabricate" a push bar out of a friends spare trailer hitch mount, put it on the front of a ATV, pushed it off and ran 229 for My one and only pass of 2011.  If You go to Speedweek 2011 on YouTube there is a short segment (look for a picture of My yellow Stude) being pushed off by the ATV and if You listen You will hear it go sideways once, Me nail it again, it go sideways again, and Me short shifting the Lenco... and hauling Acura.

Wish I could be there with the 7707 Fuel Roadster, but business commitments keep me here in the UK and secondly we could not get it fully serviced in time. ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️😣😣
