We started the course prep yesterday. We will be using the #1 course from Speedweek, with a change.  We have moved the starting  line one mile toward the interstate. We did this in an effort to provide the best salt possible though the timed sections.
We will use course #3 for our short course and 130/150 as well as the Volkswagens.
The salt is dry and smooth but still very thin.  I look forward to a great World of Speed.

Monte - thx for the update.

Please clarify... you've moved the starting line back a mile, which I understand, but did you also move back the measured section or is there an additional run up mile?

We moved everything back a mile. That means there is still a two mile run up to the timed sections.
The advantage is that it gives smoother and harder salt in all three miles of timing.

Dan Wright sent this link to me.  USFRA has a new device for salt grooming.  Watch it work.

That video was shot at the 5 mile on Speeweek course 3. As you can see the chrunchies are big and the salt crust paper thin.  We did not make the new skid. It came from the BNI /SCTA group. It was however our first try at using it.
I plan to write much more about it after the meet is over. Some of it good, some not so.
I will post another video tomorrow showing course conditions where the vehicles will actually be making their runs come Friday.
