Ed Shadle
« on: September 07, 2018, 02:45:48 PM »
This is being posted by Rachel Shadle, Ed's daughter in law:
It is with great sadness that we share that early this morning, Ed Shadle passed away. In his final days, he was surrounded by family and friends. We ask that while we each mourn his passing, that we also celebrate his life, and the tremendous influence that he has been for so many.

Ed was one of a kind,

he had this dream with the F104....he followed his dream in the old traditional Hot Rodder way....shared a group of enthusiast around his idea and went on for two decades...

unfortunately, he got not the chance to see his dream turned into complete reality.....but he has the chance having some fun with the NAE.....so wonderful memories from the Alvord Desert in 2016....

Ed, maybe you was only a dreamer with the NAE....but you followed your dream....

Over all this years you was a so great friend

you'll be never forgotten......R.I.P.

What a Damm shame.  Ed was a wonderfull guy living his dream and always a pleasure to talk to.  I will miss our phone conversations, sub-letting him hotel rooms (often), chatting while in line at the Les Schwab Tire center in Pendleton, Or. and our waving at each other on Cabbage Hill's 6% uphill grade south of pendleton where it seems like every year one or the other of us was broken down or overheated!  He was a wonderful guy and will be missed

I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?

Asking questions is one's only way of getting answers.

The rational person lets verified facts form or modify his opinion.  The ideologue ignores verified facts which don't fit his preconceived opinions.

Ah, damn.  May he Rest in Peace.  We knew Ed - not just me, but Nancy and Ed would chat at the salt or when we ran across him at the Roadster show in Pomona or anywhere.   Another racer gone.

Damn.

A damn shame. Ed was indeed a dreamer of the old school hot rod style. Joanie and I will keep Ed, his family and friends in our prayers.

I think of the NAE as the natural extension of old-school hotrodding, brought squarely into the 21st century.

Pull a salvagable wreck out of a boneyard, strip it down, rebuild it to go as fast as possible.

That Ed had the forsight to apply that formula to a retired fighter jet is a testament to his brilliance.

He'll be missed.

Well, I guess we're making a LOT of progress . . .

I first met Ed at the North West Reunion in 2005?

We shared a table and he told me of his plans for the NAE, a very enjoyable conversation.

In 2015 Gus and I went to the Alvord and helped set up the course.

He will be missed, God Speed

  Rest in peace Ed.

I first met Ed standing in line to fill out forms for entry into the Bville 200 mph club. Both of us on same day.

From what I recall he was driving a lakester. it blew a front tire, HE DIDN'T BACK OFF :-o and got into the 2 club :-D

Ed was a true hot rodder.
