Nooo   oh how brutal father time can be     what a gentleman and true racer he iS!!!

UPDATE
I knew of Les but the first time I spoke to him he was sitting in the shade of the ERC trailer
I had just qualified and had but my car back in line to get some more gas and get the tank sealed.  { I didn't know about sealed fuel cans at that time)

A voice said " Young man didn't you just have a pretty fast time?"  I turned around and replied "Yes sir, I think I qualified."

"Well then he says  I would worry about getting up to impound and sign in and then worry about how to get more gas.
"Thank you SIR" I replied---ERC immediately drug a hose down to my car and fueled it a sealed the tank.  barely got to impound in time.

Thank you Les for me not losing my red hat

Miss LIBERTY,  changing T.K.I.  to noise, dust, rust, BLUE HATS & hopefully not scrap!!

"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing."   Helen Keller

RIP Lester, you never left anything on the table.

Without folks like Les Leggitt, the world is getting to be a duller place . . .
With your ground pounding, blown nitro engines, you brought joy to so many gearheads!
Quick stat: 3 of the 5 members of the "300mph" chapter of the El Mirage Dirty Two Club got in via Les Leggitt power.

Les will be missed, holder of many SCTA/BNI records over (5 decades?)

Owner builder of the worlds fastest passenger car :-o

AND oh yeah, the sound and actual ground shaking.

  Missed and remembered.

Sorry to hear of Lester's passing. IMO Lester's motors were either going to set records or not finish the course. I was on many patrols at El Mirage over the years when Lester's motors would be running in vehicles. They were ground shaking and loud, besides being fast.

Lester you will be missed. Condolences to his family.
