A Big THANK YOU
« on: August 22, 2018, 10:17:02 PM »
Hi all
I need to right a big Thank You to all the volunteers at SpeedWeek this year (and every other year), but this year it’s the safety crews out on track 1. I had a fire caused by a stuck open injector at the 4 mile. I didn’t know that I was on fire until the safety truck ran up beside me on the turn out. He was right beside me as I came to a stop. By the time I got out of the car there were safety people all around. Without their quick actions I’m sure it would have been much worse. Thank You again for giving me the chance to come back next year and run again.

Hi Ted,
Glad you and your beautiful roadster are ok. There are always LOTS of eyes trained on a competitor during a run, from the patrols to the rovers, emergency crews (usually stationed at the 3 1/2 mile off the long course) and tower personnel. Some armed with binoculars. We dispatched fire and ambulance IMMEDIATELY once smoke/flames became visible.
Cheers, and hope to see you soon,
