The shame lies in setting a minimum at a ridiculous low.

I do agree the minimums were set quite low. When I decided to run last year, I was assuming I'd run A. Then they announced the M classes, without announcing the minimums. I looked around at the Bonneville records in my displacement classes (and ElMo in P and A) and assumed they would set the minimum near these existing records. In my class anyway, they set it 20 lower than what I thought. Not my fault, and I beat it by 12 so I'm fine with it.
Only reason to set them that low I figure is to increase entries and generate income. New to LSR, but I roadraced for 18 years. When an organization adds a bunch of classes, invariably it is to generate revenue. With Bonneville teetering on the brink of extinction, and Bonneville being the source of most of SCTA's income, it was only a matter of time. Plus I'm told those folks that used to run at Bonneville in the motorcycle M classes would now show up at ElMo and be forced into A when they were not really legal (some not easy to field implement rule differences). You seem to be an old timer, surely you are not threatened by the addition of 300+ motorcycle records? There is no shortage of car classes I do believe. Winners of points from these new classes cant win the points championships but I do suppose they mess up the line up order. Seems like an issue for the SCTA.
