How is the timing done?

The question is: Do you have only a mile to go has fast as you can? Do you go from a dead stop or rolling speed? I just curious on the break out of it all. P.S. Plan to be there next March!

So, you start from 0 and have a mile to run as fast as you can? Shut down area is a half mile? Bad Acura video. I am already getting pumped for March! BranZ

Long shutdown is closer to 9/10 mile from the finish line. Oh, . . did we mention the "slight" turn to the right about a quarter mile from the start? See ya in March...

You only have 1 mile from a standing start to go as fast as you can. The last 132 feet of the mile is a timing trap that gives an average speed from the first timing beacon to the last. You then have 1/2 mile of paved shut down and another 1/2 mile of gravel and grass to shut down. Look forward to having you.
p.s. LittleLiner is describing Maxton.

It is all I think about. We are finishing up the paint on my car this weekend. I should have the mechanicals zipped by the end of the year. I am going to need some time to drive and tune it. I am basically taking a street car down there. I will be running a 1991 Z28 with nitrous. I know that I need Z rated tires but what else? I just hate to drag it all the way down there and can't run. What are you running down there? BranZ

Build it to the SCTA rule book and you will have no problems at any venue.

You might want to have a set of very good brakes compared to the SCTA minimums as they are not needed nearly as much at Bonneville.

Timing is by lights at the end of the mile. The track with the slight turn is Maxton, not the Texas Mile. The only turn an the Texas Mile is when you leave the shutdown and run into the emergency shutdown. Hopefully, you never see that turn because it's past the end of the pavement and it's not a good place to be.
