Bill told me that they truck-gardened veggies through the 80's on a sizable scale - a 50-acre farm, with lots of rich river-bottom soil . They grew a variety of stuff, but mostly broccoli, and for many years supplied that part of the Ohio River valley around Parkersburg, WV, with just about all the broccoli sold. They finally got a 1-ton refrigerated truck, but for three years or so the Mustang hauled it all from field to grocery store to grocery store. He said the 4.11 gears pulled real good in the field, too.
I had a ball doing the article and had enough material for a 6-part story.
