motorcycle fuel shut-off
« on: January 24, 2018, 01:30:07 PM »
Paragraph 7.B.2.5. says "Fuel motorcycles shall have a fuel shut-off operable without moving the hands from the handlebar grips."

Is that saying you need a remotely controlled valve in the fuel line (like a cable operated petcock) or just a separate kill switch on the handlebar ? (my bike has an electric fuel pump)

If you're running in a fuel class you've got to have either something like a thumb-operated petcock to stop the flow of the liquid - or a thumb-operated switch that shuts off the power to the fuel solenoid (nitrous), for which duty the standard thumb-operated kill switch (usually) shuts off that system so is acceptable.

The Triumph is set up so if I come undone the lanyard attached to me trips both the engine kill switch and the fuel delivery shutoff.

Mike, as long as the kill switch also shuts off power to the fuel pump you are good.
