Here's the Swamp Rat with the first M&H's at the Cordova ATAA drag race in 1958. Some of the guys in the photo are also historic. Duhhh!  :cheers:Were those good times?

Wow! A vintage Dick Keller. Were you really ever that young, Dick?

No, that was obviously photo-shopped.
Don Maynard and Joe Bush were Speed Sport Automotive from Blue Island, Illinois - formerly Tucson, Arizona where built a top fuel roadster, the Tucson Speed Sport Special. In Blue Island they gave us Chris Karamesines.
Ed Garlits was running a Buick powered gas dragster.
Marvin Rifchin, obviously was M&H.
Anyone know that Arfons character?

Yep! Art was running his Allison-powered Green Monster at the race. There was an amazing variety of engines and vehicle designs back then. We were all learning. It was a lot of fun, too. And dangerous.

How much air are you planning to run in the tires?

Air pressure will begin with factory recommendation. Not sure what maximum is for subject tires but whatever it is, there is where Inwill start. I am not a big fan of over pressure for tires.

Probably a good idea. We made one pass on our front M&H's and they cracked wide open about 1 inch above the bead, all the way around. We were running 80#.

I took jdincau's advice and checked in with Steve Davies. Here was his response to my question for those interested in using M&H Racemaster tires.

I would like to use a pair of M&H tires at the rear (drive tires) as they are a perfect size for my G/GL. Are these tires authorized as drive tires for speeds around 215 mph?

"Hi John, the manufacturer does not recommend these as a drive tire period. But we have seen them used, do not exceed the weight rating and I think you'll be fine."

Not exceeding weight rating is important advice and sometimes overlooked.
