Hey Mike... your list starts at the second half of your life.... there was a lot of shit you survived before that...
riding your bike without a helmet
owning a pocket knife
playing stretch (sticking a knife in the ground next to the foot of the other person playing)
having a BB gun
having a bow and arrows (although my older brother got shot in the leg... luckily I had a BB gun to keep him from killing me before Mom got home)
walking to school
playing outside till dark
driving a car when you were 10
driving a car when you were 16-18 (way more dangerous than when you were 10)
drinking beer before you were old enough to buy it legally... see above

Yes they are.  I had the pleasure of seeing one of those vehicles in motion at the Concours @ Meadowbrook several years ago. The sound was..impressive. So was the dust.
