Goodyear Land Speed Update
With the 2021 purchase of Cooper Tire, Goodyear also acquired Mickey Thompson Tires and Wheels. Both companies have a long and storied past in many avenues of racing, especially when it comes to land speed. As the integration between the two companies has progressed, the decision has been made to move forward with only one brand.
Goodyear will continue to produce its existing land speed catalog, as well as sizes previously offered in the Mickey Thompson lineup. Land speed racers will be able to purchase any tire size they?ve previously raced, and all tires will be produced at the Goodyear manufacturing facility in Akron, Ohio.
Goodyear and Mickey Thompson engineering have conducted growth analysis for both tire lineups. Growth rates at speed between both brands are similar, therefore there is no concern at this time that a racer previously running a Mickey Thompson, will have any issues in transitioning to a Goodyear tire.
Existing Mickey Thompson land speed tires are still available for purchase until inventory is depleted.
Please contact Goodyear Sales Account Manager Todd Rogers (todd_rogers@goodyear.com) or Mickey Thompson Motorsports Director Jason Moulton (jmoulton@mickeythompsontires.com) with questions.
