From what I could find out, yes. However, it depended upon who was using it. Easy to get the thing to fail if you are not familiar with fuel type and how it all works. Definitely not a simple bolt on arrangement. I was looking at this for my lakester. It yields the hp I was looking for and sized correctly for my car.

OK, Mike -- where the photo of one of them in a go-kart putting it a top fuel dragster?

(I thought they ran on hydrazine (sp?), but could, as usual, be wrong.

I did, Johnboy. Surprised to see an MC engine in it. BJ said handling was an issue. I can sympathize.

I watched an exhibition run by a car with a Turbonique drag axle at an early NHRA Nationals at Indy ('63?). I'm curious how well the turbo-powered centrifugal supercharger worked, but have never seen or read about anyone trying one.

I think I remember a VW Bug, in the 60's, called the "Black Widow". I recall it ran a Turbonique trans axle or direct drive. I think it ran in the 9's. Hot Rod, Popular Hot Rodding or Car Craft ran articles on it. I recall it was more than a handful to keep straight and made some aero enhanced, challenging runs. (As in getting very light at speed because of the solid pan chassis of the Bug.) If I remember right, the crew and driver were Afro-American, thus the tag Black Widow?.
