Stainless- how long is the scoop and rectangular to round adapter? if that is a full sheet 4x8 plywood it is sitting on looks to be close to 48" total with maybe 60% being the NACA part/

Do you anticipate being ready for this year?

Jack, the opening for the scoop is about 18 inches... the transition duct is about 8 inches...

I think we will be ready for SpeedWeek... I'm entered.

Dang Jerry, he's only injured... not dead...  well ok, he is a dead blow... but he really has been assigned light duty tapping the draw bar on the mill when I change tools... a job he volunteered for rather than go on disability and unemployment.... he's a trooper  :friday

keep moving... the scoop panel has now been marked for the cut out and mounting rivets... next up, chop into the panel.

Been working others stuff too, emergency chute release... have a plan and half the parts made.
Steering wheel wiring... in work
Battery cables, determined lengths and routing, going to the battery cable store soon.

Panel cut for scoop, scoop attached and final adjustments made to air box mounting.... then fire doors laid out on the engine panels, one on the left, two on the right... Pictures will show up for those after doors are cut and mounted.

Welded the mounts for the electrical cutoff, finished the hole in the hood, added a Dzus fastener close to the cutoff to keep the panel from oil canning and shutting the car off.
No that is not the final marking... I'm thinking a red circle or what ever is the universal symbol for electrical shutdown, we will see

Finally took a few pics of the stuff I've been working on.
Brake and clutch lines are bent and installed... flex lines on both ends of hard lines.  The masters are adjustable on slides so lines allow movement.

The battery cables are installed from battery to the firewall.  Switch is mounted.... the white thing... it's a reset tool for the switch.  I decided it was too difficult to reset the switch when it was flush with the panel, so I drilled a couple of holes in the switch cover and made a spanner.  Might make another one for just in case....

Parachute manual backup is installed and mounted... yes I write notes on tape

Fire bottle activators are mounted, one tab to weld for the adel clamp and that system is done.
Anyone know how to  buy just the push button, one of mine is cracked  :-(

Do you always run it 2,900 rpm for photo shoots? 8-)
I'm curious what your fire bottle activators look like (with push-to-activate cables). My FireFox bottles use pull cables which release the spring-loaded diaphragm-piercing needle.

2900 RPM... you have been paying attention... Autometer tachs never seem to say 0 unless power is applied.

The cable is basically a Morse type, flexible but solid.  The firebottle cap has a piercing pin and the cable pushes it through the diaphram.  The second pic on my last post shows the gold cap with the cable attached to the 10 lb #2 bottle.   Yes, you better have a pin in the bottle with the cable off or the cable when it is on.

Still searching for a "Fire Push" button

Talked to Ed... we have hope, the has similar that may need bushed 3/8 to 1/4 but I believe we have a winner.  Sounds like he is LSR friendly, is on the salt, knew my old car... and seemed very reasonable... and guys, he will inspect and tag on the salt.... in case you forget....

Been working on a lot of little things... added some tabs, painted all the unpainted additions to this point, changed orings in fuel system to fluorosilicone, doing lots of nit noi stuff... you know, the stuff that takes lots of time and doesn't look like you are doing anything  :?

Ross was over so we bled the clutch and brakes... Made a few more PTFE fuel lines... added the pull strap

Planned the lateral head restraints... yes, there is so much room in the cage that I need to add filler... in the old car you had to work to keep your helmet in the 1/8 inch of extra space so it didn't rattle your eyeballs...
should have some pics of that in a week... basically adding a 2x4 on each side... OK, a metal 2x4, they are on the way here but it will take time to get them.

Still trudging that direction....  finally got the last parts of the fuel system so I could make the last hoses and get them installed... now all I need to do is mount the 20 micron final filter... working on that plan.

Picked up a battery, worked the hold down from a piece of aluminum I had laying around.  Had some silicone hose left over from the cooling system, so it is shock (no pun intended  aktion086) mounted.  And yes, I disconnected it after the photo op, still a few things to do in the electrical system  :-o

Still waiting on parts, maybe some will get mailed today since they weren't sent yesterday... hard to get good help.

Remember those 1 gauge welding wire battery cables... I went back to have some other sizes made.  I learned after I got them home that they didn't have the size ends I requested, so they made them with the size they had.... at least they got the  4 gauge welding wire right and made it long instead of short.
Well that was a problem... I couldn't find anyone else, so I took matters into my own hands.... it was an opportunity to own another tool.  10 ton hydraulic crimper... it was cheap, under $40 from Jeff's China store, delivered.  The reviews said it works... the instructions on use... insert proper die for wire and lug, pump handle.... no word on how you figure out what the proper die was, but I got it right by the 3rd try.... no wire or terminal lugs were wasted in that effort.  :-D  Waiting on 1 gauge terminals to do the last cable crimp.

It came with 9 sets of dies... I'm not thinking it was built to fail, but it also came with a rebuild kit  :?

Ordered a $10 billet clamp mount for the fuel filter... don't know how they can sell them for that.

Wait... sell them for under $10 and deliver them in 2 days....
Clamp showed up, then it was time to figure out how to mount it...
Fuel system is done... well almost, I need to test my fuel safe foam in the tank to see if it gets along with E85 and Methanol.  So far, everything else in the system is compatible with all three.
