Well it's been a while and a lot has happened...We enlisted some help from our friend Rory Andrykowski, the artist that painted the original nose art on the car back in the 80's.  The crash destroyed the nose and the art...
Working from a couple of pictures, the original airplane and our old art, Rory managed to update our art and get it on the new nose.

Next up is take the body off, paint the frame and put it back together

Looking very slippery there, Stainless. The new car turned out exceptionally well. Can't wait to see it run. Who knows, we might be out there with you this year.

Stainless, sorry if I missed it but what is the frontal area comparison between old and new?

Almost the same. The lower part of the car is still 24" wide and 16" high. The roll cage is about 5/8 inch bigger. The canopy is larger to miss the cage. The engine cover stays the same as the canopy till past the motor then tapers to the tail. The other engine cover was smaller for the 750cc motor but had bumps to clear the Busa. Computers say the new car should go through the air better because it is smoother. We hope to find that is the case at Speed Week.

Not to worry, we will dirty up the air with wheels and axles...
The top is larger, about 3 inches wider than the old one at the base... but Pork Pie says our motor bumps were slowing us down and since we needed to build in more helmet room, I made it to accommodate the motor as well, at least that is our hope... let you know when I put a motor in it.  With any luck the air will flow smoothly down the top.
The nose is all glass and and will not have a fresh air vent on the side like the old one.  The fresh air vent is in the cowl... I'll pop a pic of that in here at some point.

Stan I think Jon is screwing with us... special characters seem to generate ??
I am on another forum and occasionally see a ? where a "quote" would be.
we will see

As Stainless wrote, the roll cage size increase to get more space for the helmet.

This did not effect the frontal area that much, as the bump in the old cover for the engine compartment was larger, anyway.

so, here some numbers.
the frontal area is app. 3 percent smaller than the old one
the drag, if the rough simulation is right, will be 12 percent less

two other number changed also, here we have to see what it means for the handling
the downforce from the airflow over the body is less than the old one
and the CP moves about 5 inches forward.....

with the cleaner airflow the car will be better controlled by the airflow to go straight...
it is a plus and minus....the white dyno will tell what the real increase of speed will be

but finally the condition of the salt surface has to be right to turn the advantage of the improvements into speed
