I think I have the rear motor mounts conceived... the upper rear mounting structure is in place and ready to weld... the lower will be similar, I will start making parts for it tomorrow.  Then I will need to make mounting brackets and connect the motor.
Still thinking about front mounts

Still have a little to do with the lower mounting structure but here is what it should be....

Then I pulled out the air box for NA motors to make sure everything fits.  It is a little close, but we will see what happens with the exhaust.  Not sure I have the correct tilt on the motor, so I will need to check the exhaust fits.  I also need to toss the turbo motor in and maybe use it to line up everything.  Worst case, I will have NA motor mounts and turbo mounts to make everything fit.  Our goal is to not have motor bumps on the upper cover... it is looking pretty good.  Motor could be more forward is necessary.

That is the same look I get when they stick needles in my Acura, Woody. Same look for prostate exams too.

Stainless, Fred is looking pretty darn good.

John, Fred is hanging in there... getting used to the handicap ramp I built for him... his hair is growing back enough that you almost can't tell where they shaved him for back surgery.  Still has a little coordination issue front to back so he skips every now and then when he walks... but getting better all the time.

Worked most of today on engine positioning.... left, right as well as up, down in the front and back.  To do that I installed the exhaust header to ensure it would fit as well.  Got it close to where I want it and started working on finishing the back motor mounts.  Have pieces for the uppers on the mill.  Pictures when the uppers are done.  The motors were a very tight fit in the old car... there is not a lot more room in the new car.

Top rear mounts are done... Will start on lowers and/or fronts tomorrow.
The idea for the mounts on this car is eliminate the angle pieces.  The old car had mounts attached to verticals on each side of the frame.  It was almost crazy fitting pieces together to  cover the distance.  The last pic is the 1K motor mount for the old car.

Easier to keep everything square with square mounts.

Been working on motor mounts... fronts were a chore, at least deciding how I will do them was a chore.  I built a couple of mount blocks and welded them in the car square.  They have threaded holes that can be used from the inside and/or bottom.  I machined a channel in them so they fit the tube, then clamped a bar across both sides... that made them rotate to square.
I have to weld the inside after the motor comes out, but you should get the idea.

Have one of the front motor mounts almost finished, the other is on the bench ready to be welded.

I've also been working on getting replacement front wheels... we are closer every day... Picked up a bunch of aluminum today.  Started prepping it to send to Podunk.... should go out Monday.
The wheels we have are tube type... Terry will be making tubeless type,  with integral moon style caps.
Many thanks to Tom Burkland for his valuable input.

Welded the left side front mount... looks a like the right side mount only different  :-o

Spent a bit of time cutting corners... off the aluminum square plates.... not only trying to get them to fit USPS flat rate boxes, but I also need to get the weight within the limits... I'll take the heavy one down to the P.O. and see what I have.
Yep, I checked UPS, they were a little pricey to ship 180 or so pounds of aluminum... If can get it in 3 flat rate boxes... and that works, it is about 1/3 the cost....
I can use the savings to buy a really nice bottle of whiskey and a couple of cases of craft beer.... life is about perspective

Well, making progress...  Here is the mount I mentioned... yes it does look like a mirror of the other....

What did I do in the shop today.... cut up aluminum... OK, the saw runs unattended so I am doing other things while it cuts.... I have a small pile of tailings under the saw... but I am getting there.   One box is packed and under 70 lbs.... working on the next box... trying hard to make under 70.  The first weigh out of #2 was 74.... the first piece was trimmed out and in the box at 34... should be about the same with the second.

Terry, you will sweep up 3/4 of what I send you... return should be light.... I'll try to remember to bring rum n coke to the races...
Johnboy's employer gets a rate with FedEx... they were nearly $200...

In case you think I've been sitting around eating Bon Bons, drinking craft beer and sipping Irish whiskey you should know I don't eat Bon Bons.  :-o
But I have been working on the seat and interior liner.  The goal is reuse as much as the seat as possible so I have been fitting Dzus tabs and in some cases, drilling new holes, cutting and re-bending parts.
Here are a few pics of where I am.... no I'm not done, this is a slow process... hard to hold, mark, tack weld and drill without a helper.

Yes it is starting to get a little crowded in there
