Target 550 made a pass, I was at the starting line. R It was really thundering, then (just my opinion) sounded to me like it broke a shaft or belt, etc. Sounded like one engine was overreving and one was still pulling, then shutdown. A day or so later, Tuesday, they left.

 Thanx.

I wonder if it was more R&P problems.

Nope - Buckeye Bullet did not run today.  No idea why not - especially after yesterday's qualifier.

I wonder if they were just tuning up for the Shootout.  I don't remember seeing them on the latest entry list, though.

I was told Tooele County Sheriff Department has released the name of the deceased individual in the automobile accident on Tuesday, but not the names of the injured. A lot of us in California are concerned if they were crew members we knew.

From the HAMB    The car they where racing was number 1166 C/GL McCambridge Bros Trucking owned by Rick McCambridge. Rick was seriously injured in the accident as well as Erick Burns (Tweety Bird Honda) and Dale Charles.
This group is from Sonoma Ca. and we have been going to Bonneville for many years together. Losing Chris Clay really makes you think about how precious life is.
    Thanks everyone for your thoughts

Our thoughts and condolences are with the McCambridge team, family and their many friends.

What a tragedy, terrible accident, but surprised it does not happen more often.

It could happen to any of us.

Hi Woody... Thanks for sharing pics. Very nice. Couldn't make it last couple of years due to health issues ( not life threatening ( I hope!)). Hopeful for 2018.
Condolences to those involved in the collision.
Go fast, be safe, drive it like you stole it. Love life, your friends and the USA.

Al Teague lost his 409 mph record held since 1991 to Main and Poteet, too fat cats going after all the records and don't have a clue about building a car or engine them self's, like AL.

They have the car and engine built, pay the crew and show up and drive.

I wonder what Al's cost was compared to theirs?

26 years, the Teague record stood, but I certainly wouldn't diss a team as well organized and disciplined as Poteet and Main just because they have the resources necessary to make it happen.  Managerial skills and the vision to hire the right people and follow through on a vision are equally as important as exceptional talent and sweat equity.

They earned the record by utilizing modern management techniques.

Not taking anything away from Al Teague, but let's flip the question.  Given the same financial resources, who do you think would be faster today?
