Just so everyone's aware, Photobucket has stopped providing third party photo hosting for all of their services, save their premium service.

Any photos you've set up on Landracing.com through Photobucket will not be visible unless you've agreed to upgrade to their 3rd party hosting program, which costs $399.00 per year.

Needless to say, I'll be searching out another photo hosting provider.

That's why I never use them... I've seen a lot of broken links in multiple forums over the years when folks exceeded their free quota.  Posting to the website makes you work on your picture to make it an acceptable size but so far Jon has not cancelled anyone's pics.
(even the ones that may not be suitable for young viewers)  rolleyes

It's 39.99 per year..... NOT $399.00.....
And I find it reasonable since I have thousands of pix there.
Yes - I think it should be cheaper, which gives me a year to find another host.

No, you're wrong on that.  The only account they offer that will permit 3rd party hosting is the Plus 500 plan at $399.00 per year.
I suggest you check your third party hosted pictures.
Or simply go to my build diary.  All Photobucket photos are blocked.

I'm hoping those fucx-knuckles chicken out.......who the hail is going to pay $400 a year?

Not me.

The minister for war and finance has offered to do the grunt work and rehost the photo's on our build diary and edit the posts that contain photos.

I'm not sure she heard me when I said "there's 360+ pages"

I wonder if (or how many) lawsuits are brewing?  I think blackmailing is illegal, and I don't see any way to revive my photos except to pay.  Somebody mentioned that we agreed to their changing their terms and conditions when we signed up, but is failing to provide the service that they agreed to the same as changing terms and conditions?

And how does this bode for Photobucket to attract new customers to sign on to a service that has proven they can change the charge for their services at their whim, without any advance notice to customers? I haven't seen a single positive post yet and there are over 15 pages of complaints if you do a search for "Photobucket disables 3rd party hosting."

I've seen the argument, and it makes sense to me, that photos put up under X conditions should be hosted under X conditions.  Then if the terms are changed to Y, photos put up after that should be under those terms.   Going retroactive stinks (as if you didn't know that).

I got an email from Photobucket yesterday and when I clicked on the link it told me they were experiencing problems.

I'd say their business model had too much blue sky and not enough terra firma and that the two or three people paying for premium services aren't enough to cover.the bills.

For those of us who have been using Photobucket for years ( I "upgraded" to the Ad-Free option a while back), what are the best non-Photobucket options for hosting our photos, and what are some good options for getting our current images off the Photobucket website.

My images are still visible, but if they become blocked, by entire "Build Diary" becomes virtually worthless.  I have gone back through my own build thread many times looking for build details which have slipped my mind.

I've been able to download my albums, albeit at a very slow rate.

I'm not worried about getting my photos back, but what I'm inclined to do at this point is to use the posts we've generated over the last 8 years, edit them into a cohesive narrative, and republish under a new BD.

There IS a lot of BS that could go away and still provided a viable document.

Bob, I'll ask -- if Chris (for instance) needed something that has disappeared form the site -- is it retrievable from the backups?  Or is that something way outa what's reasonable?  Just wondering.

So we all should invest in multi-terabyte remote drives and download everything to said machine, ya think?
