Bonneville Test & Tune
« on: June 23, 2017, 06:56:55 PM »
Need some help here from the gearing guru's.

I have a C gas roadster that I run a 3.22 final drive ratio at El Mirage. On the long course at Bonneville I run a 3.08 final drive. I plan on running at the USFRA Test & Tune which will run a three mile course.
Any suggestions regarding gearing?
Thanks,
John

I'd say your split between the two is about right.  The difference (to me) between the three and the five is about 1 to 2%.  But I must say, you're either turning a lot more RPM or got a bigger tire than we've used.

Redline is 8500 RPM. After that I start hearing noises!

He's got a real slick roadster, but I think he reaches the "wall" long before you do, Rick.
