I was there in '72 salt was a little damp. Very white and thick. A large puddle where you got onto salt. My truck got very
rusted out in a couple of years. In '71 salt was dry and hard cars laid rubber off starting line and I bent tent stakes trying to drive them in.

The names have changed but the problem is even worse now than it was when that article was written in 1972. 

There is a lesson here, never trust a politician ... and "follow the money".
