They were designed specifically for silicone hose whereas a Jubilee clamp will actually cut into the hose. I see them all the time on tour buses & new semi's.

The main reasons that that style mechanism fails is either it's a poorly designed offshore copy or more often, it's been way over tightened at some point in its life.
