A real piece of history there, Tom Beatty's tank. I believe that pic was taken when Ralph Whitworth owned it & I know he paid 700K for it back then & lost his shorts on it when he went bankrupt.

Thanks for the links. I'd never seen inside Beatty's tank- looks like it was one of the earliest to use a real frame.

$700K?  WTF?  Car is made of unobtanium, obviously, heavily patina-ed to look funky -- right?

700K goes to prove" all the fools in the world aren't dead yet'. Would have sold mine for 10% of that price.

That makes $36.5 million for a replica 250 GTO seem like a good deal.

I always wonder what it would take to get a tank this old (or, say, Monroe's Indian) through tech / impound these days. Could it even be done?

Not and keep it original. I am talking Beatty's Tank.

More to come, but it will take me awhile to write it.

I was told it sold for $464,000 then to Ford Museum for around $200,000.

I'm building a liner and space is at a premium.
The belly tank must have all the same components
by design/rules etc.
Where and how do these guys fit everything?.
Big respect to anyone building a tank.

Building a tank is kinda like building a ship in a bottle, you start out with the constraints of a container & it's curved everywhere plus you have to put 10lb's of $hit in that 5lb bag. I too have a healthy respect for other's who have gone there.
