Here's a bit of SpeedWeek news for you all to ponder:

Just this morning I received a fine gift from an anonymous donor that musta got tired of me whining about it last SW:  Landracing.com now has a microphone that I can put on a stand out in front of the announce booth and getcha the sounds of the engines as they putt-putt past.

It worked okay last year when I'd step outside and hold a mic, but now we'll have one that's available all the time and right now, instead of after I finish the next gulp of gatorade.

See you/hear us on the salt.

We were ready to load up for Speed Week till we went to the Texas Mile a couple weekends ago. Now I need to do a little fixing on my heads and jugs. Seems the head gasket on the front jug didn't like the pavement as must as it does the salt.

We'll get that fixed and bee ready to go soon.

So......is there any reason to believe we'll have a track this year? Anybody been out to the salt to see what it looks like? Is it mud or is it white? What was the off season like? Temps and rainfall compared to other years (good or bad)? Last year's salt was marginal at best are we expecting the same, better or worse this year? We've got 5 months to go and lots can happen but if it is a mud pit now there won't be any reason to load the trailers....

We had all the hype and momentum from years of not racing then one year of marginal salt and everyone was abuzz with save the salt, protect the surface, stop the mining and then when Speedweek ended it seems to have become a back burner discussion. Unless I missed it while looking at Anders building his turbine bike I haven't seen much conversation on the racing surface lately. Being 2000 miles away really handicaps us on knowing what is happening out there.

This time of year it is still under water. I saw a video from the 1st of the month of Lake Bonneville, but for this time of year I kinda expected that.

Whatever you're thinking -- 2017 Bonneville pre-entries must be in the mail by May 1 (and don't bother to look, that's next Monday).

I added a pre for ya Stan

I think it's around MM 28 -- but then, I live half a dozen states away.  How would I know? :?
