Stan,
You forgot Modified or Street, Front or Rear Engined , Roadster or Coupe, or Sport, or Gt, or Lakester, or Classic, or Pickup, or Mini-Pickup, to name a few! (Please take that as a joke, as you no doubt intended.)

Jack and Bo,

Thanks for posting the old records.  Interesting that by 1980, all the 500cc and under records were non pushrod except 1 - -and that one by J. (Jess?) Thomas in SAF - 500, still stands today (although I'm not sure about the early Honda records, as they did make some early 90cc pushrod motors).  My records in PG would not have been records back then.  But I'm still interested in what the early pushrod bikes did pre-1970 or so.

Color isn't truly what Stan meant, but it's a close approximation.  There's been found to be a direct correlation between the wavelength of light reflected from the uncovered portions of the seat of a bike and the speed that it travels -- due to the suns converse refarculation to the material of said seat.

Also not discussed was whether the footpegs had been anodized or not.  Separate classes for colors, of course, but also for good and shoddy anodizing quality.  Gotta be fair.

All this just goes to prove that we need the SCTA to recognize that bike records need to be segregated by size of engine, number of cylinders, decade of manufacture, type of fuel, combustion system used, wheelbase, amount of streamlining, shaft or chain drive, weight of rider, and color of seat.  Every one needs a fair chance of a record with the bike he has chosen to ride.

I was with you until "color of seat".  How does that affect top speed?

Stan, go pull his leg so he knows it's being pulled :-D

1969 Honda CB750 followed by 1973 Kawasaki Z1 (900cc) is when motorcycle world changed.
