Anyone else making the trip--my wife, Becky, and are are headed down. Will hook up with my good friend and team mate, Greg Watters, and off to Gairdner. Looking to ride a M-1000 BF/BG Kawi H-2!! Cannot wait!!!
Bonneville 2001,2002,2003,2004,and NO stinking 2005,DLRA 2006, next?
Well, sure can't complain about 2008--6 records over 200 and 5 hats from Bonneville,Bubs, and El Mirage for the team!

Looking forward to meeting you all .
After a week long heatwave with temps reaching 115 degrees, "cooler" weather (in the 90's for a week) is more than welcome.
Our "doctor with wings", Scott, who is also a competitor, & head of the emergency medical team who look after us flew over the lake recently, what he saw confirms what the satellite thermal images show, very little water remaining on the lake, although the 9 mile may be a bit damp,

From the Spirit of Sunshine build diary . . .

We're back on the blacktop.
Jack Rogers turned up with three Camaro and he, Greg May, Frieburger all ran 200+.
Dave Rosewarne and Mark Love's  Firebird got out of shape and then on its side after a chute pull.
Lionel West's AA/Falt did 261.
Dunn's tank 240's
Mike Davidson's FlattAttack ran 230's
Peter Warrens P38 ran over 200
Cookie's Brunskilltown Mopar did its 175 license.
Kim and Jim and Greg suffered tribulation.
Richard Assen turned up with a new lay down head first Busa motored special in A Blown, ran 209. Centre hub steering and all round beautiful engineering.
Brooke Jennings built a similar deal with leading link and a VW flat four that ran for TO.
More later.

Our team (Jack Rogers Racing) traveled to Lake Gairdner with our 3 camaros.  We were assisted by a number of DLRA members both prior to out arrival and during our stay.  In every respect we were made to feel welcome and appreciated.  Several times officers and officials stopped by out tent to make sur that if we needed anything they would provide it.  All in I count it as a Top 5 Racing Experience

While we had a lot of problems, we were able to get 2 of the 3 cars on the track and set 5 records with 5 different drivers in 5 different classes, 4 of which appear to have qualified the driver for the DLRA 200 MPH club

Maybe the biggest accomplishment of the week was Steve Strupp out of Customs Quarrentine in record Tim and getting our 53' long overweight car hauler on and off the salt without sinking into one of the sandbars!  What a guy!

And speaking of salt! WOW!  Smooth salt stretching for miles and miles - not even a "pressure ridge"

And our 67 Camaro ran about 6 mph faster than it has at bonneville - both David Freiburger and Greg May ran over 249 mph exiting at the "4". So much for slower expectations at Lake Gairdner

Anybody who wants to try this should talk to Steve Strupp

I think we will return because it was such a highly enjoyable experience
