Dang it, I'm not going to be there.  I want to - and every year John Ellwood gets in touch with me and offers all sorts of inducements -- if only I get to Stockholm.  Damn, it costs about one point three tons of $$ to fly to ANYWHERE from our town, so here I sit, wishing I could be there to give everyone a front row seat.  Maybe some year the lotto ticket gods will smile on me and you'll hear me from the ice.

Best wishes for a safe and fantastic event. :-D :-D  :-D

I think things are pretty wound down now, the Artic Arrow had a 141 mph test run, the "Bonneville Bee" made a 108 mph pass, very spotty info available, most of it on Facebook Landracing.se

the Arctic Arrow did 206mph

a 1000hp Audi car did 208.125 mph

Pawel from Poland with his Hayabusa turbo motorbike made 196 mph i think. I havent seen a result list yet

my little Hybrid rocket sled Sofie got a plug in the (new for this year) plastic cartridge, which led to a burn through, in the rocket pipe, upwards and through 3 safety plates. luckily i had 4 safety plates all in all, which saved me from getting fried

the slight glow under the sled is showing the burn through

then i had to do a bit of modifying , to try and get her to fire up at the rear end instead of the front, but she wouldnt light up proper - just blew the flame out when i tweaked on the NOS

here is a link to results. im not sure if its fridays or saturdays though       http://landracing.se/

Here is the Mobacken Racing story, we ran our twinturbine jet kick sled for the third and most likely last year. We´ll build a new chassis for the engine that is better suited for speed.  :-)

Do you know what caused it to drift to the left? Good thing you (or Olof) weren't hurt.

Thanks a lot guys! :-)

The drift to the left started when Olov shut the engines off, when the jet thrust disappeared the kick and driver caught the wind in 130+km/h and the unsharpened sled runners started sliding sideways on the hard ice track.

Three out of four of all jet kick sleds ever raced at any speed at Speed Weekend ended up crashed, we start to understand why now. The runners are very sensitive to the quality of the track and with bikes and cars tearing up the track with spiked tires it is almost impossible to run a kick sled without hitting one of those tire ditches and being thrown off course.

A new and more suited chassis will be built for the twinturbine engine for next year, so stay tuned!

Cheers!
/Anders

There are a couple of photo albums up on the Speed Record Club's FB page which may be of interest of Kurt Anderson's bid to be the fastest ever on ice and the Arsunda event in general. Fair to say this is an incredible event to witness with a unique range of vehicles both wheel driven and thrust powered, very well attended and superb organisation, see you next year!
